Colloidal solutions of arsenic trisulphide are prepared by passing hydrogen sulphide into aqueous solutions of arsenic trioxide partially neutralized with ammonia. Sugar, such as beetroot or cane sugar, may be added to stabilize the sol. By controlling the amount of hydrogen sulphide passed, unconverted arsenic trioxide may remain in the solution. |
