PURPOSE: A dual cycle heat pump system is provided to generate cold water even in a cooling mode as second and forth heat exchangers operate first and second cycles in the cooling mode. CONSTITUTION: A dual cycle heat pump system with improved cooling performance comprises first and second cycles. The first cycle controls the flow of a first refrigerant through first and second branch pipes. The second cycle comprises a second compressor, a third heat exchanger, and third and fourth branch pipes. A second refrigerant flows into the other inlet of a middle heat exchanger through a second expansion valve. One side of a fourth heat exchanger is connected to the inlet of the second compressor. The second refrigerant circulates through the middle heat exchanger in a heating mode. As in the second cycle, the flow of the second refrigerant through the third and fourth branch pipes is controlled.
