METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ASSIGNING RADIO RESOURCES AND CONTROLLING TRANSMISSION PARAMETERS ON A RANDOM ACCESS CHANNEL

A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) and a method for transmitting data using enhanced random access channel, RACH, procedure are disclosde. An indication associated with uplink transmission is received via broadcast signaling. The indication comprises a maximum amount of transmission time and a maximum ratio of data part power to control part power. Data are then transmitted in the uplink in accordance with the received maximum ratio of data part power to control part power and the received maximum amount of transmission time.
