An active energy ray-curable ink composition for inkjet recording, which is characterized in that (1) the ink composition contains 10-25% by mass of a polymerizable compound having one active energy ray-polymerizable group relative to the total mass of the active energy ray-polymerizable compound, while containing 75-90% by mass of a polymerizable compound having two or more active energy ray-polymerizable groups relative to the total mass of the active energy ray-polymerizable compound, (2) 10-20% by mass of N-vinyl-2-caprolactam is contained as the polymerizable compound having one active energy ray-polymerizable group, and (3) 15-35% by mass of (meth)acrylic acid 2-(2-vinyloxyethoxy)ethyl is contained as the polymerizable compound having two or more active energy ray-polymerizable groups; and an image forming method.
