The method involves determining an expected remaining range of a motor car based on determined average fuel consumption (60). Quantity of a reducing agent e.g. ammonia, present in the motor car is determined (70). The determination is made whether the quantity of the reducing agent falls below a predetermined threshold within the determined expected remaining range (80). Information concerning the reducing agent is output when the quantity of the reducing agent falls below the predetermined threshold within the determined expected remaining range (90). The information is selected from optical, acoustic and/or haptic notifications such as request to refill the reducing agent or warning concerning too small quantity of the reducing agent.
