<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately continue linkage printing in which a master device and slave devices share printing of a plurality of copies, even if an abnormality of a master function such as power shutdown of the master device occurs. <P>SOLUTION: In this image forming system 1, the master image forming device selects the slave image forming devices, allocates shared print copies in the linkage printing to the slave image forming devices and transmits slave printing information necessary for the shared printing to each slave image forming device to make each slave image forming device perform the linkage printing. The master image forming device performs the linkage printing of only shared print copies by itself, and acquires, stores and manages progress of the linkage printing by itself and each slave image forming device. If power shutdown is required during the linkage printing processing, the master image forming device makes the power shutdown request wait, selects an alternative master image forming device, and transmits the progress information to the alternative master image forming device to make an alternative master request.
