<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detection system capable of detecting an illegal exchange of a secondary battery more strictly than before in a device mounted with the secondary battery, and a method therefor. <P>SOLUTION: At the stop of the device operation or at the completion of charging from the outside, respective inter-terminal voltages of secondary battery cells 11-1 to 11-n and a battery temperature are measured and stored in a storage device 51 together with measurement time t0. At time t1 immediately before the start of operation of the device, respective inter-terminal voltages of secondary battery cells 11-1 to 11-n and a battery temperature are measured.
