<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-level power converter having 5 or more levels in which a circuit structure of an inverter is simplified and a wiring inductance having adverse effect on the voltage surge of a semiconductor switching element during current interruption operation can be reduced. <P>SOLUTION: A power converter comprises: a capacitor arm 12 which serially connects four capacitors in parallel with a first switching arm 13 serially connecting eight switching devices; and a second switching arm 14 which serially connects two switching devices between a junction of second stage with third stage of the first switching arm 13 and a junction of sixth stage with seventh stage of the first switching arm 13. DC power supply is connected to both upper and lower ends of the capacitor arm 12 so that an intermediate point of the second switching arm 14 works as an AC output point. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
