Provided are a data transmission operation device and data transmission control method which make it possible for an operation by which a user transmits data to be performed in an efficient, intuitive and enjoyable manner. An icon representing data is displayed on a display unit (11a) in a movable manner in accordance with the touch operation of a user, and a plurality of device-specifying information items representing devices to which the data is to be transmitted are also displayed on the display unit (11a) around the icon. If the icon displayed on the display unit (11a) is moved by the touch operation of the user, a touch sensor unit (11b) detects the direction in which the icon is moved by the user. A position-specifying information detection unit (17c) detects the device-specifying information being displayed in the direction detected by the touch sensor unit (11b). A data transmission/reception control unit (17d) controls the transmission of the data with respect to the device-specifying information detected by the position-specifying information detection unit (17c).
