<p>The method involves providing a protection device (205) for compressing a carrier drum (203) against a machine roll (204). Mechanical vibration of the drum is measured using a speed sensor. A direction of a radial component of nip force (Fn) between the drum and the machine roll is changed relative to a part of the protective device as a stopper by changing a rolling angle (alpha) between the drum and the machine roll for amplifying the mechanical vibration of the drum. A position of the drum is measured in a direction, which is vertical relative to a rotary axis of the drum. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for controlling mechanical vibration of a carrier drum of a roller device.</p> |
