An apparatus and method of use comprises a tube of at least 30mm in length and an internal diameter of 7mm having a first aperture and a second aperture and an upper rounded portion with an outwardly curving lip (3) extending from an inner surface of the first aperture with an outer diameter of at least 15mm. The apparatus may further comprise a support surface that extends substantially perpendicularly from the outer surface of the first aperture. The upper rounded portion with an outwardly curving lip may be part of a torus or ring torus comprising a torus tube. The tube may be one or more of circular, rectangular and ovular cross section. The outwardly curving lip preferably extends 360 degrees around the first aperture of the tube and where the outwardly curving lip and support surface are joined they form at least one support arm which may have a hole (1) where a cord is passed through to attach the apparatus. The apparatus may further comprise a second tube with its own outwardly curving lip. The apparatus may be used as a rope protector particularly to protect ropes when they pass through metal gratings or penetrations in metal deck plate in both onshore & offshore locations. |
