The machine has a supply conveyor (3) for supply of palletized loads and pallets to a fusion/division station (2), and a delivery conveyor (5) for evacuation of fused and/or divided palletized loads from the fusion/division station. The fusion/division station includes a conveyor section (14) having a low position in which the supply conveyor and the delivery conveyor are connected. A load gripping device (16) is installed at the level of the conveyor section, and a platform (15) varies a vertical distance between the gripping device and the conveyor section. An independent claim is also included for a method for automatic division of palletized loads by a machine.
