#CMT# #/CMT# The device i.e. starting block device (1), has a foot support stud (5) connected to a base (2) and allowing activation of a force sensor (3) to determine reaction time of competition during start of the competition. The stud is connected to an H-shaped structure (4) that comprises flexible and spaced apart strips (14, 24). Ends of the strips are rigidly connected to a fixed portion (7) of the device when a central bar (6) connecting the strips is pushed in a preferred direction by bending the strips to activate the sensor if force is applied against the stud by the foot. #CMT# : #/CMT# The bar and the strips are formed of metallic material. An independent claim is also included for a method for actuating a starting device to determine reaction time of a competitor from a support stud of a device during starting of sports competition. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Starting device i.e. starting block device, for a competitor of sports competition i.e. athletics.
