<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle periphery monitoring device that suppresses delay of the start of contact avoidance processing under an influence of a shield interposed between an own vehicle and an object. <P>SOLUTION: A contact determination part 23 determines the possibility that an own vehicle and an object come into contact with each other when an object position detection part 21 detects the object approaching the own vehicle 1 in a center layer A2 of a radar device 12 in control cycles more than the number of times of determination, and decreases the number of times of determination on the first condition that an image part detection part 22 detects image parts of the approaching object and the shield by a road and the object position detection part 21 detects the position of the shield before the object position detection part 21 starts detecting the position of the approaching object in the center layer A2 of the radar device 12. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
