<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element that increases an amount of light extraction and prevents dark spots. <P>SOLUTION: An organic electroluminescent element includes: a substrate 1; a first electrode 2; an organic layer 6 including a luminescent layer 5; and a second electrode 7. Thereinside, the luminescent layer 5 has particles 8, with a lower refractive index than those of luminescent materials of which the luminescent layer 5 is made, out of contact with interfaces with adjacent layers.
