PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly detect inter-cylinder air-fuel ratio variation failure in a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine.

SOLUTION: This inter-cylinder air-fuel ratio variation failure detection device for a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine 1 comprises: a primary determination execution means for executing primary determination including the determination whether there is the possibility of inter-cylinder air-fuel ratio variation failure; a fuel injection amount change control means for executing fuel injection amount change control for forcibly changing the fuel injection amount of a predetermined target cylinder by a predetermined amount when the primary determination execution means determines that there is such possibility; and a secondary determination execution means for determining whether there is inter-cylinder air-fuel ratio variation failure on the basis of output variation when the fuel injection amount change control is executed.
