<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for rapidly and correctly determining abnormality in the roll gap of rolls in a continuous casting machine. <P>SOLUTION: While drawing a dummy bar 5, the position of a roll gap-measuring unit (r) is tracked which is moved together with the dummy bar 5, and each roll gap (g) of the rolls is measured by the roll gap-measuring unit (r). The peak value of each roll gap in the rolls is obtained on the basis of the data obtained by the tracking and each measured roll gap of the rolls.
