<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ferrule and a connector for an optical waveguide capable of preventing in advance a polymer optical waveguide to be inserted thereinto from being damaged. <P>SOLUTION: A ferrule for an optical waveguide includes: a body member having a reference surface on which a flat-plate-shaped optical waveguide is placed; and a holding member which presses the optical waveguide placed on the reference surface of the body member to the reference surface and holds it thereon.
