<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that suppresses twist of a body housing when the housing is fixed, and vibration of an optical scanner, while suppressing an increase in cost of the apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: An optical housing 500 of a writing device 5 has a body housing 30 including a rear-side plate 32; and a side face opposite to the rear-side plate 32 has on both ends thereof rear-side housing fixing parts 502a, 502b, which are fixed parts, to be positioned and fixed to rear-side support parts 22a, 22b, which are fixing parts of the body housing 30. A side face opposite to a front-side plate 31 of the body housing 30 of the optical housing 500 has in the center part thereof a front-side housing fixing part 501, which is a fixed part, to be positioned and fixed to a front-side support part 21, which is a fixing part of the body housing 30.
