<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine having an intake valve located above a cylinder axis line, wherein oil can be supplied to the intake valve smoothly even without forming an opening of an oil supply passage at a position directly above the intake valve. <P>SOLUTION: An opening 64 connected to a passage 63 of an oil supply passage is formed at a position located within the inner surface of a head cover 16 and higher than the intake valve 41, the position being off a position directly above the intake valve 41. A first rib 81 is provided on the inner surface of the head cover 16.
