The video coding method of the embodiments involves: generating an error image that represents the difference between an input image and a predicted image, and quantizing the error image to generate a quantization coefficient; generating an error image by inversely quantizing and then inversely transforming the quantization coefficient, and adding the error image and the predicted image to generate a decoded image; performing filtering processing on the decoded image, and generating a reference images; generating first application data that indicates whether or not to apply reference filters, which are filters that have been applied to the reference images, to the filter processing of the decoded image; generating first reference information that represents one reference filter among the reference filters that were applied to the reference images which can be referenced when generating a predicted image; generating the predicted image using the reference images; and coding the quantization coefficient and filter information, which includes the first application information and the first reference information.
