The present invention relates to a flame retardant polymer composition comprising an ethylene copolymer comprising polar groups selected from the group consisting of acrylic acids, methacrylic acids, acrylates, methacrylates, acetates and vinyl acetates; a single site catalyst prepared ethylene copolymer having a density between 0.860 and 0.910 g/cm3; a halogen-free mineral filler comprising a huntite and/or a hydromagnesite and a maleic anhydride modified ethylene homo- or copolymer (D). The present invention relates to a wire or cable comprising said flame retardant polymer composition, and to the use of said composition for the production of a layer, preferably a jacketing layer of a wire or cable.
