<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous coating composition excellent in weatherability and wear resistance, and capable of forming a coating film having a sufficient elongation. <P>SOLUTION: The aqueous coating composition contains a polyurethane (A), a weatherability-imparting agent (B) composed of an organic ultraviolet absorbent (b1) and/or a metal oxide particle (b2), a polycarbodiimide (C) and water (D). The (b1) is at least one selected from benzotriazole-based, triazine-based, benzophenone-based, benzoate-based, and hydroxyphenyltriazine-based ultraviolet absorbents. The (b2) is at least one selected from zinc antimonate, titanium oxide, zinc oxide and tin oxide. The content of the (A) in 100 mass% of the total of the (A) and the (B) is 70 to 97 mass%, and the content of the (B) therein is 3 to 30 mass%.
