<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a prosthetic valve implant site preparation technique which optionally addresses the challenges presented by prosthetic member interface with calcific and/or irregular valve leaflet and annulus geometry. <P>SOLUTION: Prosthetic valve implantation methods and systems, especially as related to preparing the native site of a native stenotic or incompetent aortic valve for receipt of a prosthetic replacement valve are described. The subject tools and associated site preparation techniques may be employed in percutaneous aortic valve replacement procedures. Devices for modification or removal of tissue through chemical techniques, mechanical techniques and the application of energy are disclosed.
