A distance measuring device for the game of bowls comprises two vertical indexing bars 7, 8 at each end of a line 6. In use each vertical indexing bar is positioned on the floor at right angles to the floor, such that one vertical indexing bar touches the jack and the other vertical indexing bar touches the bowl perpendicular to the surfaces of the jack and the bowl. The device may further comprise a retractable spring loaded line housing 2 with a mechanism 14 for locking the position of the line 6. The vertical indexing bar may further comprise horizontal leg 12 with alignment marker 9. The housing 2 may comprise a fixed pointer at the same height as the mid-point of the jack. A laser distance measuring instrument may be fitted to the device. |
