A controller 30 for a wind turbine power plant 10 comprising a plurality wind turbines 20 having a rated output power, where the controller comprises an over-rating calculation unit for calculating and sending to two or more wind turbines an over-rating request signal indicating an amount up to which the turbines are to be over-rated. Preferably the over-rating request signal is calculated by the controller from a difference signal formed from the rated output power of the plant less the measured output power of the plant, where the difference signal is integrated by an integrator 70 and amplified by an amplifier 80 before being provided to the controller. The gain applied by the amplifier may be inversely proportional to the ratio of change in over-rating set point to power plant output change. Preferably the over-rating request signal provided to each turbine from the controller is processed by each turbine to take into account turbine fatigue. A method of control is also claimed. |
