Frequency inverter with a current limiting device and method for operating same

The converter (24) has a rectifier (28) connected with a power connector (26) for converting alternating voltage of an electrical network (14) into rectified voltage (Uzk). An intermediate circuit (36) is connected to a direct current (DC) voltage output (34) of the rectifier and provided with an intermediate circuit capacitor (38). A current limiting device (44) limits current intensity of current (Izk) flowing from the network in the intermediate circuit. The current limiting device capacitively couples the intermediate circuit with the power connector. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a frequency converter.
