An image processing apparatus that separates image data in an N-dimensional first signal format (3<N) into image data in a second signal format is provided. The second signal format is used in an image output apparatus. The apparatus comprises an input unit for acquiring input image data in the first signal format; a conversion unit for converting the input image data in the first signal format into image data in an M-dimensional third signal format (3<M≦̸N); and a color separation unit for separating the converted image data in the third signal format into image data in the second signal format, using an M-dimensional color separation LUT. With respect to a pixel distribution, a correlation between each component of the third signal format data is lower than a correlation between each component of the first signal format data. |
