PURPOSE: A selective restoration system using a Windows hive file and a method thereof are provided to add basic driver information for Windows driving in an initial hive file, thereby removing a reinstallation process of the driver. CONSTITUTION: An installing unit(100) stores an initial Windows hive file of an initial Windows installation time and a current Windows hive file. A storing unit(200) stores the Windows hive file as a backup hive file and records a storing time in a mapping information database. A monitoring unit(300) stores changed registry information when a program influencing a Windows speed is installed and deleted and calls the storing unit. A selective speed restoration unit(400) restores the Windows speed by replacing the Windows hive file by the backup hive file which a user selects when speed restoration is requested.
