<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower the folded height of folded part without decreasing productivity when performing folding processing after binding. <P>SOLUTION: A sheet processing device with a stapler 5 having a driver 5a for binding a sheet bundle with staple needles 5c and a clincher 5b, and a folding roller for folding the bound paper bundle includes a spacer 51 which sets a predetermined space L between the non-bending part 5c1 of the staple needle 5c and the upper surface SB1 of the sheet bundle SB to be folded, so that the staple unit 5 is driven for performing the binding processing while keeping the space L set by the spacer 51 when the sheet bundle SB is bound with the staple needle 5c. The predetermined space L is set based on sheet information containing at least one of the following: thickness of the sheet, kind of the sheet, the size of the sheet, and the binding number of the sheets.
