<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an A/D converter that improves resolution without causing a significant increase in occupation area. <P>SOLUTION: The A/D converter comprises: a plurality of capacitors CP0-CP10, CN0-CN10 for receiving an analog input signal and storing charges depending on input voltages Vin+, Vin- of the input signal; a plurality of switches SWP1-SWP10, SWN1-SWN10 for applying the input voltages and a reference voltage selectively to the respective capacitors; a comparison circuit 2 for controlling the plurality of switches to cause the plurality of capacitors to redistribute the charges for successive approximation; a control circuit 3 for receiving an output of the comparison circuit and controlling the plurality of switches to output a digital output signal corresponding to the analog input signal; and a resolution improvement section 4 for regulating the digital output signal corresponding to the input signal at higher resolution than the result obtained by the comparison circuit performing the comparison determination by using a comparison time in the comparison circuit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
