<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber socket, that not only simplifies optical axis alignment between an optical fiber and a photoelectric conversion element, but also improves precision of the optical axis alignment, thus improving reliability and extending lifetime of the photoelectric conversion element. <P>SOLUTION: A socket 1 comprises: a circuit board 31 and a sleeve block receptacle member 32 that are molded at the same time; and a sleeve block 4. By fitting a fitting projection 42 of the sleeve block 4 to a fitting hole 32b of the sleeve block receptacle member 32, a photoelectric conversion element 2 is hollow-sealed, and an optical axis of an optical fiber 10 and an optical axis of the photoelectric conversion element 2 are aligned. In a gap between the sleeve block 4 and a frame 32c of the sleeve block receptacle member 32 surrounding the sleeve block 4, a sealing member 6 is inserted. Accordingly, an optical axis alignment is performed only by fitting and insertion. Further, since maximum molding precision obtained with a molding technique has a dimensional error of not more than 1 μm, precision of the optical axis alignment is improved by using the same degree of precision for dimensions and positions of the fitting projection 42 and the fitting hole 32b.
