<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tapered roller bearing in which initial torque is small and initial abrasion hardly occurs, and a method of manufacturing it. <P>SOLUTION: This tapered roller bearing includes an inner ring 1 having a raceway surface 1a on an outer peripheral surface, an outer ring 2 having, on an inner peripheral surface, a raceway surface 2a facing the raceway surface 1a of the inner ring 1, a plurality of tapered rollers 3 arranged rollably between both the raceway surfaces 1a and 2a, and a retainer 4 for retaining the plurality of tapered rollers 3 between the inner ring 1 and outer ring 2. A lubricant L is distributed in a bearing internal space formed between the outer peripheral surface of the inner ring 1 and the inner peripheral surface of the outer ring 2. A plurality of recessed parts formed by a shot peening treatment for projecting a projection material heated to a temperature higher than room temperature are formed on a collar surface 6a of a large collar 6 disposed at one axial end of the outer peripheral surface of the inner ring 1. The recessed parts with a depth of 1 μm or greater, of all recessed parts, are arranged uniformly at an interval of 200 μm or smaller. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
