<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve gear for an internal combustion engine capable of suppressing continuation of a valve timing unstable state for a long period and achieving an effect of the suppression with a simple constitution. <P>SOLUTION: This variable valve gear includes: a valve timing variable mechanism for changing valve timing; an oil control valve for controlling a supply mode of lubricating oil to the advance-angle chamber and the retard-angle chamber; and a control device for controlling the supply mode of the lubricating oil of the oil control valve. The variable valve gear has a holding mode for at least holding the lubricating oil in the advance-angle chamber and holding the lubricating oil in the retard-angle chamber as the supply mode of the lubricating oil. A time for holding the supply mode of the lubricating oil of the oil control valve in the holding mode is specified as a holding time, and when the holding time is prescribed time or more, the supply mode of the lubricating oil of the oil control valve is changed to a mode other than the holding mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
