<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber socket, that simplifies optical axis alignment between an optical fiber and a photoelectric conversion element, and improves precision of the optical axis alignment, thus minimizing coupling loss. <P>SOLUTION: A socket 1 comprises: a circuit board 31 and a sleeve block receptacle member 32 that are molded at the same time; and a sleeve block 4. The sleeve block receptacle member 32 includes a fitting hole 32b to which a fitting projection 42 of the sleeve block 4 is fitted, and a fitting-in frame 32c to which the sleeve block 4 is press fitted. The fitting projection 42 and the fitting hole 32b are fitted together to be positioned such that an optical axis of an optical fiber 10 and an optical axis of a photoelectric conversion element 2 are aligned. Accordingly, optical axis alignment is performed by fitting and insertion only. Further, since maximum molding precision obtained with a molding technique has a dimensional error of not more than 1 μm, precision of the optical axis alignment is improved by using the same degree of precision for dimensions and positions of the fitting projection 42 and the fitting hole 32b.
