This invention enables the user to visually recognize, from a plurality of source files, a source file that is the source of an important modification. When copying and pasting, the items, size, and pasted content are recorded and the degree of importance of such pasting (a selection index of the source file) is determined on the basis of the number of pasted items and the size of the pasted data with respect to the entire file. The item names and modification content are recorded, and when an administrator inputs keywords important (or keywords non-important) to the visualization of the file history, the degree of importance increases (or decreases) when the keywords are included in the item names and modification content. To visualize the file history, provided are a function to display in order of higher degree of importance when displaying in table format, and a function to display or emphasize only source files for which the degree of importance is equal to or above a threshold specified by the administrator when displaying in diagram format.
