<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology to estimate the temperature of each light source block of a backlight constituted of plural light source blocks while restricting increase of the cost and the number of disposed sensors. <P>SOLUTION: A backlight temperature estimation device is partitioned into plural light source blocks each having one or plural light sources and is capable of separately controlling the light emission from the light sources of each light source block. The temperature estimation device has obtaining means that obtains the brightness of the light source of each light source block; a temperature sensor that measures at least one of the temperature inside a housing and the temperature outside the housing of the image display device which has the backlight; and estimating means that estimates the temperature of the light source of each light source block based on the value measured by the temperature sensor and the brightness value of the light source of each light source block obtained by the obtaining means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
