This vehicular field of view assistance device comprises: a first obstacle detection means for detecting, when visible light reflection from an obstacle is insufficient and a vehicle driver has difficulty visually recognizing the obstacle, an obstacle present in the vicinity of the vehicle using a visible light image upon notifying the vehicle driver of the presence of the obstacle; a second obstacle detection means for detecting the obstacle using an infrared image; a detection state assessment means for assessing whether it is difficult or impossible to detect the obstacle with the first obstacle detection means; and an obstacle information presentation means for presenting, when it is assessed by the detection state assessment means that it is difficult or impossible to detect the obstacle with the first obstacle detection means, information of the obstacle detected with the second obstacle detection means to the vehicle driver. |
