The controller has an inverter (3) and a power factor correction unit (2) that includes a compensation transducer i.e. multi-phase compensation transducer, and provides power supply to the inverter. The compensation transducer includes phases, where each phase includes controllable switches e.g. MOSFETs, to be controlled in such a manner that a single phase of the controllable switches is switched over a switching period of the compensation transducer with 360 degree per N intervals. The compensation transducer comprises bridge rectifiers. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a motor.
