PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of reducing residual toner when printing a color image with high density in which multiple colors such as CMYK or the like overlap, and preventing recording paper from being stained.

SOLUTION: An image forming device 100 includes: an image forming part 40 for forming an image corresponding to bit map data based on data for printing; an intermediate transfer belt cleaning unit for removing residual toner on an intermediate transfer belt of the image forming part 40; and a control part 50. The control part 50 includes: area density determination means for determining whether or not total density of each toner density of multiple colors in a local area in a page to be printed forming the bit map data is equal to or above a predetermined density; and cleaning control means for determining whether to make the intermediate transfer belt cleaning unit on operation, on the basis of the determination result of the area density determination means.
