<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seed tape laying machine that is self-propelled by motor drive, reduces work burden of worker, stops a motor by detecting the velocity of the seed tape laying machine when the velocity exceeds a predetermined velocity and drives the motor again when the velocity falls below the predetermined velocity, suppresses battery consumption and enables a continuous operation of a long time. <P>SOLUTION: A seeding pipe 7 is adjusted to a depth for laying a seed tape. When a power source is turned on and the seed tape laying machine is pushed, a drive voltage is applied and the driving force of a DC motor 13 is transmitted through a chain 18 and a one-way clutch 16 to a rear wheel 6. When the drive voltage reaches a set voltage, the seed tape laying machine reaches a set velocity in a flat farm field. The revolving speed of a shaft 41 is detected by a proximity sensor 20 and when the revolving speed exceeds a speed threshold value, a voltage supply to the DC motor 13 is stopped. When the revolving speed reaches less than the threshold value again, a voltage is gradually applied to the DC motor 13.
