<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a black inkjet ink which gives high image density, avoids blurring, has excellent light resistance, and ensures excellent safety because no carbon black is used, and to provide an ink cartridge and an inkjet recording method using the ink. <P>SOLUTION: (1) The black inkjet ink comprises at least water, a black colorant and a surfactant, wherein the black colorant is a metal-containing azo dye and the surfactant is a nonionic or anionic surfactant.
