Disclosed are a method and device for representing the multi-point transmission ability of UE. The method includes the following steps: the UE determining the representation manner of the multi-point transmission support ability thereof according to the number of multi-point transmission modes supported thereby and representing the multi-point transmission support ability thereof using the representation manner; and the UE sending the multi-point transmission support ability thereof to the network side. The present invention improves the processing capability and stability of the system.
