A lighting device has: a lighting section comprising a housing which is long and which, when viewed in a cross-section perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, is provided with openings at the top and bottom thereof and has an outer surface formed as a convex surface, the lighting section also comprising a semiconductor light emitting device which is disposed within the housing and which emits light toward the bottom opening; and a holding section comprising a holding member which, when viewed in a cross-section perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the lighting section, has at least a part thereof formed as a concave surface corresponding to the convex surface, the holding section also comprising a connection member for connecting, at the top opening facing the concave surface, the holding member and the lighting section. In the cross-section of the housing, the region of the convex surface which faces the concave surface comprises a portion which makes contact with the concave surface and a portion which does not make contact with the concave surface.
