An extendable golf club comprises a second shaft (124, fig 16) configured to movably receive a first shaft (112, fig 16) and a c-shaped collar or clamp 500 to secure the shafts. The collar 500 comprises a gap (310, fig 25) and a bore 502, wherein a second bore section 506 has a diameter greater than a first bore section 504 to define an annular ledge 508. The bore is configured to receive a bolt 450 wherein a second bolt section 455 has a greater diameter than a first bolt section 454 to define an annular shoulder 457. The first bolt section 454 is received in the first bore section 504 to expand the collar from a frictionally locked position to an unlocked position where the shafts are movable relative to each other. The annular shoulder 457 engages the annular ledge 508 to stop further insertion of the bolt 450 into the bore 502.
