PURPOSE: A web winding device and a control method thereof are provided to obtain a winding roll without winding failure and to supplement the shortage of winding tension to nip load. CONSTITUTION: A web winding device comprises a nip roller(4), a nip load adjusting part(6), and a nip load control part. The nip roller presses the exterior of a web wound on a core. The nip load adjusting part adjusts nip load on the web due to the nip roller. The nip load control part controls the nip load adjusting part to increase the nip load according to the increased winding ratio within a winding range in which the winding ratio of the winding roll is over 80%.
