<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide treatment for multiple sclerosis. <P>SOLUTION: A method for treating a subject having an inflammatory disorder, and who exhibits an inadequate response to a first agent includes a step of administering to the subject a VLA-4 binding protein in an amount and for a time sufficient to treat the disorder. The VLA-4 binding protein is administered at least once when the first agent is not present at a therapeutic level in the subject.
