SENSOR CHARACTERISTIC CORRECTION DEVICE

A sensor characteristic correction device provided with a characteristic detection means, a calculation means, a difference detection means, and a correction means. The characteristic detection means detects the characteristics of first sensors (10, 20) disposed on the upstream of a catalyst (6) on the exhaust path (4) of an internal combustion engine (2) and the characteristics of a second sensor which is an air-fuel sensor (12) disposed on the downstream of the catalyst (6). The calculation means calculates a first air-fuel ratio on the basis of the characteristics of the first sensors and a second air-fuel ratio on the basis of the characteristics of the second sensor. The difference detection means detects the difference between the first characteristics and the second characteristics or between the first air-fuel ratio and the second air-fuel ratio after the internal combustion engine (2) starts up and when the catalyst is unreacted. The correction means corrects the characteristics of the first sensors and/or second sensor according to the difference such that the first air-fuel ratio and the second air-fuel ratio become the same.
