The present invention refers to a piston for an alternative compressor type which effects a reciprocating movement within a compressor cylinder, and comprises a substantially tubular wall (1 ) with an end (2) closed by a end wall (2a) and an open end (3) with distal edge (3a); a longitudinal extension (L) of said tubular wall (1 ) having a dimension analogously proportional to about two to four times the diameter (D) of said tubular wall (1 ); the closed end (2) of tubular wall (1 ) comprising a bevel (4) extending up to the outer surface of the end wall (2a); and said open end (3) of tubular wall (1 ) comprising a bevel (5) extending up to the outer surface of distal edge (3a).
