<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize apparatus configuration in photoacoustic tomography to improve the operability of an operator and a user. <P>SOLUTION: This object information acquiring apparatus is used which includes: a photoacoustic probe that includes a light-emitting section for guiding light from a light source to an object, and a probe for receiving photoacoustic waves generated from the object irradiated with light by the light-emitting section, and transmitting ultrasonic waves to the object to receive reflected waves; a processing section for generating internal image information of the object based on the photoacoustic waves received by the probe; and a control section for controlling the irradiation of light from the light-emitting section. When a first contact condition is defined as a condition in which the object is irradiated with light from the light-emitting section while the photoacoustic probe is in contact with the object so that the probe is acoustically matched with the object, the control section determines whether the photoacoustic probe is in the first contact condition by using the reflected waves, and permits the irradiation of light from the light-emitting section when the photoacoustic probe is determined to be in the first contact condition. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
